Teachers

Eco-Schools – Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful offer two types of training for teachers and other education workers:

1. Teacher Cluster Group Meetings

Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful works with local councils to provide guidance to teachers. The meetings include information on both the Eco-Schools Programme and support available from the local council including:

  • Information for new Eco-Coordinators in schools on how to implement the programme;
  • Information on progressing through the programme and applying for bronze, silver and Green Flag awards;
  • Examples of good practice from local schools.

Cluster group meetings are a key opportunity for teachers to learn more about the Eco-Schools Programme and how to tackle the topics, as well as share ideas with other schools. Individual councils organise these meetings, if you are interested in attending please contact the relevant council officer (details of Eco_Schools council contacts can be found here on the Eco-Schools website).

2. Eco-Schools Assessor training

Many of the Assessors who help deliver the Eco-schools programme are volunteers. To prepare them Eco-Schools offer a thorough course covering all the necessary technical and procedural points. If you are interested in becoming an assessor please contact the Eco-Schools Officer for more information.
